Americo Afonso announced this Wednesday that vai face the current chairman of the Chamber of Dentists (OMD), Orlando Monteiro, in the next elections for the post, which take place the next day on December 9.
"A future with order - an order with future 'is the motto of candidates presented today by Americo Afonso, which aims to" carry out a series of measures that lead to change and renew the current landscape of class of more than five thousand doctors dentists and oral health in Portugal.
Americo Afonso proposes to make a recasting of the organizational model of the OMD, creating a Board empowered decision, accompanied by a council with the task of tracking the decisions of that executive body. It also limited the mandates of holding positions of the OMD to two mandates, create complementary systems of social assistance for members, promote the quality certification of clinics and dental clinics and create schemes mandatory update for the professional dental practitioners.
Americo Afonso, of 46 years, has a degree and doctorate by the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Porto (FMDUP), where he is associate professor with aggregation. He was president of the Portuguese Society of Dental Medicine and Dentistry, Director and Chairman of the Board of the Hospital of San Marcos in Braga, vice president of the Governing Board of FMDUP and chairman of the Council of Ethics and Disciplinary the OMD.
In its curriculum has 50 scientific articles published, with three awards and honors, having given more than a hundred conferences on national and international scientific meetings.
