CITY OF CHRISTMAS (Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil) - Children and adolescents of the municipality of Pedro Velho receive priority in the actions undertaken by the municipal hall, through the Municipal Secretary of Health. The team of oral health holds an intensive work in schools in the municipal network for education, in addition to the nursery and Peti (Program for Eradication of Child Labour).
Periodically, the dentists and their auxiliaries Minister lectures on the importance of brushing, oral hygiene and the use of dental floss. The oral diseases are also subjects of the talks. This work is developed through the programme of Oral Health.
According to the coordinator of the municipal health secretary, Adriana Juvêncio Fonseca, currently a team of oral health is doing the work of prevention with children of nursery school children and teaching Hall. With the children assisted by Peti, actions have been completed. "Through lectures given by dentists and their assistants, students will be targeted on the importance of oral hygiene. Children are the main targets of educational work, but the service extends to the entire population of any municipality," he says.
Treatment: Adriana Fonseca points out that besides the preventive work carried out in schools, kindergartens and social programs, the team guarantees the oral health of dental treatment forwarding the patients for office. "When the team detects any event that requires dental treatment, does the scheduling and pushes the student to the office, ensuring that the child do the curative treatment," he says.
