Curitiba, BRAZIL - Health receives donation of ministry: dental equipment were not a gift but a recognition to the work of Curitiba. The network formed by 94 dental clinics in the Prefecture of Curitiba received from the Ministry of Health on Thursday, 36 sets dentist.
The donation, aimed to units of the Family Health Program (PSF), was formalized through agreement signed between the national coordinator of the Program Sorridente Brazil, Gilberto Pucca, and the vice mayor and municipal secretary of Health, Luciano Ducci. "These facilities are not a gift to Curitiba, but reflect the recognition of the pioneering work that the whole team of the Municipal Health develops in the attention to oral health and that remains forefront," said Pucca.
This is the second time that Curitiba benefits of the partnership Brazil Sorridente-PSF. The first occurred in 2004, when 44 sets dental arrived. The donation will allow enlarge the structure of work and care of the 125 teams of oral health of the units that operate in the form of the PSF. Ducci thanked consideration and reminded that the emphasis on oral health by the municipal health service comes from the decade of 60. "We have a commitment to this historic area. Partnerships like this are important because they represent the opportunity to enhance a service that already has quality often top to that in most cities, "he said.
Among the highlights of the oral health of Curitiba is the index DMF-d, which represents the average of teeth definitive with caries, lost or restored. I am impressed when I compare the policies of oral health followed in Brazil with those applied in Portugal. I want someone here that knowledge of equal projects in Portugal; presume that there is need to raise awareness among central and local powers to the issues of oral health.
