509. ANGOLA: Children are agents against dental caries

Huambo - The project aims to create smile this year, agents nozzle infant health in schools, so that through lectures and guided demonstrations to reinforce the message against tooth decay. It is also perspective for this year to create children's theater groups for children to be activists against tooth decay and other mouth diseases, which affect mostly the small ones.
The project manager, Sara Soeli Leandro, revealed today in ANGOP, that the creation of child-raising agents should be reflected in the expansion of health activities nozzle, involving a larger number of city schools. Sara Soeli Leandro said that to consolidate the theoretical knowledge that children will learn in the lectures will be distributed 100,000 health kits nozzle, consisting of brushes, and pepsodente explanatory booklet on the care to be taken during brushing.
He explained that in each lecture the students have the opportunity to make an accompanied brushing, your teeth, so they learn the technique of brushing your teeth healthy. Noted that the supervised brushing is done through a portable kit (brushodrome) acquired in 2010, consisting of sink, mirror and water.
According to the source, this work of public health is a provincial government initiative through the local department of health in partnership with the education sector and in spite of economic constraints, the project covered smile, in 2010, over 50,000 children across province. Were also mounted in 2010 Stomatological sections in the districts of Londuimbali (Auto-Hama), Ukuma, Bailundo, Huambo and Katchiungo.
The challenge is to continue, during this year, so that in the 11 municipalities that make up the province people have this service running. He regretted, however, the lack of dental technicians in the area so that services work regularly. We have proposed a course in dentistry in the province, we expect the government to approve the document to reduce the deficit of tables continued.
Another bet of the project is to continue to pay attention to pregnant women through prenatal conduct, to direct and move differently pregnant women to avoid many complications that may have and also dispel the myth that pregnancy can not extract the tooth. Implemented by the Management Company Private Health AMOSMID, the project has existed for more than five years and has been applauded by many families, especially rural communities, because many children learned to brush their teeth in school lectures, after five years of age.

How many projects will need to import from Third World countries so that in Portugal there is also addressed preventive oral health care to all children and young people of all primary schools and secondary schools? Is it only important to fill the little heads of boys with Sex Education?
We're tired of seeing millions and millions of pamphlets produced by the Directorate-General for Health and campaigns exorbitant money poorly spent on advertising spots on television, in which no contribution to improving the oral health of the Portuguese. All that money would have been much better spent if it had been spent on medical care, many hundreds of thousands of children could now have a smile that perhaps never again will the rest of their lives. Can not believe that the Director - General for Health and Minister of Health are so people so cold and callous to the suffering of children and youth in need of oral health, these children who will be marked physically and psychologically for the rest of their lives. There is nobody who does not realize that a prevention was extremely well made cheaper by the Health Ministry to do the treatments only when any oral diseases.
Current policies for oral health in Portugal need a revolution at all levels.
