11) Apple combat infections of the mouth in an indian village

The apple is being used in an indigenous village of Mato Grosso do Sul and cariogenic to prevent gum disease in the 150 children who live at the site. Every 15 days, the National Health Foundation (Funasa) sends the fruit to the village Cerrito, in Eldorado. The stock managed to reduce to 12% the number of cariogenic among the indians of the village. The use of the fruit is part of the Oral Health Program, developed by Funasa in the villages of the country.
The program also includes specialized meetings and cleaning supervised by dentists every week. The fruit is also part of the school lunch and is being distributed to families indigenous consume at home. The dentist Roselena Caseiro Lopes, who serves on the project, explains that, because of the apple is a fruit consistent, it helps the hygienisation and, it is rich in vitamins, strengthens the teeth. "The food could be the carrot, but chosen by the apple flavor and because children like much," he said.
