608. Alcoutim reinforces according Dental Medicine

Three years ago it opened the first office of Dental Medicine in Alcoutim. The initiative resulted from an agreement between the City Council and the Santa Casa da Misericordia Alcoutim and allowed to needy families, free access to oral health.
With a total investment of 13,200 euros in 2012, this project now saw its budget increased by more 12,000 euros per year, given the increased difficulties of families by imposed economic containment measures.
Integrated in the Contract Social Development Location (CLDC), established between the City of Alcoutim, the Institute of Social Security IP and Odiana Association, the Oral Health program has allowed, since its opening, that about 400 residents had a healthier smile.
According to the Social Action Office, Health and Education of the City of Alcoutim in 2012 were given 500 consultations.
