47) One in four children go to the dentist to six years

One in four children go to the dentist for the first time to six years and only 19% of schools promote activities of oral hygiene among students, according to a study released by the Portuguese Society of Dentistry Dental (SPEMD).
The study covered 5,500 children, the five to 12 years, around a hundred gardens-of-childhood and primary schools throughout the country. According to the study, 25% of children visit the dentist for the first time at age six, "where have all the teeth of milk is imminent and the first eruption of teeth definitive."
The SPEMD also concluded that only 19% of primary schools and gardens-to-child perform regularly initiatives related to oral hygiene, and only 15% of the total studied is to promote the habit daily brushing of the teeth of children. "In 49% of cases, the involvement of schools it is so sporadic, through programmes promoted by other entities," adds the SPEMD.
