Outreach Provides Free Dental Treatments to the needy

For the 3rd consecutive year, the Dental Clinic of Lisbon - Dentista24 promotes Dentist Day of Solidarity with the poorest people of Lisbon, on the occasion of the Christmas period.

The next joint action will start on Saturday December 19, 2012, the day the Dental Clinic Dentist Lisbon-24 and all clinical staff will offer dozens of new smiles to the community. This initiative arises because those in charge of the clinic are aware that dental care is not accessible to all, especially at a time when austerity completely changed the priorities of Portuguese families.

According to Dr. Ana Rita Costa, clinical director of the Lisbon Dental Clinic - Dentist 24, this action falls within our social responsibility project and therefore have included in our program of activities for the holiday season, a set of actions that aim to help the community. In such a critical period in the life of the Portuguese people sometimes do not have the financial capacity to meet the basic needs of their day to day, we must help the needy. We launched the technical challenge to our medical staff and are provided promptly and enthusiastically to this challenge which the only payment they will accept will be smiling at the end of each query. With this small gesture, we believe we are contributing to a better world and a more just society.

On this day the Solidarity Dentists will ensure a wide range of treatments absolutely free:
- Destartarizações
- Simple Restorations
- Simple Extractions
- Rx
- Control of pain
- Diagnosis
- Sealants 

Under this action will not be possible to make prior appointments so that patients are seen in order of arrival to the time limit of the capacity of the clinic will run from 9H00 to 20H00. This joint action is valid for all adults and children older than 15 years, and, in the case of children, should be accompanied by a parent.

598. Portugal has the worst oral hygiene in Europe

Portugal is the country with the worst oral hygiene in Europe, with almost all children have at least one cavity and most seniors without a single tooth, said the Chairman of the Dental Association. According to Orlando Monteiro da Silva, some studies have revealed worrying data that put Portugal on the tail of the 25 European Union countries. These studies reveal that sixty-five percent of people over age 60 do not have a single tooth in his mouth, said the expert.
